Dallas Cowboys linebacker Darius Slay will sign a five–year deal with the team, the team announced Monday.
The deal is worth up to $42 million, with $24 million guaranteed.
The veteran pass rusher will join an already-committed group of Cowboys defensive backs that includes linebacker Myles Jack and cornerback Tramon Williams.
The Bears have re-signed safety Anthony Brown and tight end Anthony Fasano.
The Cowboys will need to make some roster moves as they battle the Washington Redskins for the No. 2 overall pick.
The club also has a handful of veteran defensive backs in free agency including free-agent addition Brian Dawkins.
Slay was a fourth-round pick by the Bears in 2012.
He spent two seasons in Chicago and three in Chicago’s Pro Bowl in 2013.
The team signed him to a four-year, $46.8 million contract in 2014 and he has started all but two games since.
