New Jersey Devils rookie forward Jordan Staal has joined his hometown team in the NBA Finals, the New York Knicks announced Monday.

The 20-year-old Staal, who has not played for the Devils since 2013-14, is a five-time All-Star and a five time NBA All-Defensive First Team selection.

“I’m excited to be a part of a great organization like New Jersey,” Staal said in a statement.

“It’s a great opportunity to play for such a great team, and I couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunity.”

New Jersey, which is in the Eastern Conference semifinals with seven games remaining, faces the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night.
