The NHL is trying to keep the lid on the growing cannabis industry.

In a memo to all teams, commissioner Gary Bettman says the league will work with the league office on how to handle the legalization of marijuana.

The memo came on the heels of the announcement that the Los Angeles Kings will sell marijuana-themed merchandise, including t-shirts, to players and staff.

The Kings have not released any details on what they will be selling, but they do have an official marijuana dispensary at the Kings’ downtown arena.

“The NHL’s position on marijuana is consistent with what the players and the team owners have advocated and what the Department of Justice has recommended,” the memo reads.

“We will continue to closely monitor the progress of this important issue in order to provide the league with the best possible products and services for our fans.””
